im going to start driving soon, and my parents bought my brother a car, so theyre leaving me to buy my own -_-. my mom has a driving phobia, so a verry safe car.. and as affordable and as good on gas as possible. what cars best fit the description?

I have a job but only get paid 8 an hour and I only work about 15-20 hours a week. And my mom is really poor so I have to buy a car myself. I live in Maryland. Anyone know where I can get a decent car (meaning not needing alot of work on it) for a real cheap price? Please help!
My car broke down about a month ago and it would cost more to fix it than what the car is worth. I am getting a ride to work from my mom and bothering my roommates and friends for rides home. So I am in desperate need to get a car ASAP. I don’t really car about make or model. I just need an automatic thats less then 00. Can’t find anything even remotely cheap in the newspapers, where else can I check?
